7,000m² Coating Scope Delivered on Shelf Fortress at Invergordon

From May to September 2025, Global Energy Services was contracted by Shelf Drilling to deliver a series of specialist painting scopes while the Shelf Fortress, a 400 Foot Jack-Up Drilling Unit, was docked at the Queens Dock, Invergordon Service Base.

These scopes involved comprehensive surface preparation and coating across the following areas: all external hull sections, accommodation module and associated platforms, main deck area and walkways, platforms and walkways beneath the helideck, and staircases and associated handrails. In total, over 7,000 square metres were prepared and coated in line with our client’s robust coating specification.

At the height of the project, around 30 personnel were actively engaged in coating scopes, and the painting works alone accounted for nearly 14,000 man-hours, reflecting the scale and intensity of the contract.

All works were successfully executed, with the full scope delivered safely, efficiently, and on schedule – ensuring the Shelf Fortress was ready for deployment on its upcoming contract.
